Free and Equal Elections vs UCLA Arbitration Hearing Wraps Up in Los Angeles

Christina Tobin Served as Expert Witness On Damages

Los Angeles, California – June 27, 2019 – The Free and Equal Elections Foundation lawsuit against UCLA for breach of contract arbitration hearing is scheduled to end today June 27, 2019. The hearing began June 24, 2019 at the American Arbitration Association in Los Angeles.

Free and Equal founder Christina Tobin served an expert witness on damages caused by UCLA after the school canceled the non-profit’s United We Stand Festival at Pauley Pavilion on May 6, 2014, just days before the event contracted for May 10, 2014.

The concert’s purpose was to expand interest in political participation among young people. The event included many big-name entertainers and thought leaders. Thousands of tickets were sold through Ticketmaster and Groupon.

Free and Equal seeks over $1 million in damages based upon harm suffered including damages to reputation, lost donations, sponsorships, fundraising, and out of pocket expenses.

“This has been a long and challenging road for me personally and professionally, but I’m standing up for what’s right. Censorship of free speech on campus is an issue throughout the US, not just at UCLA,” stated Tobin.
