ABOUT US

The Free and Equal Elections Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit non-partisan organization with a mission to open the electoral process through education and collaborative action.

Founded in 2008 by electoral reform and voters’ rights leader Christina Tobin, Free & Equal leads national, state, and local efforts to transform the electoral system in the United States.

Free & Equal hosts open gubernatorial, Presidential, and senatorial debates, including the 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020 Presidential debates moderated by Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalist Chris Hedges, Broadcast Legend Larry King, Thom Hartmann of Free Speech TV, Emmy Award-Winning Actor Ed Asner and Christina Tobin.

Since 2009, Free & Equal has hosted annual electoral reform symposiums uniting intellectuals and experts to share, debate, and offer reforms to the current U.S. electoral system.

In 2013, Free & Equal launched Free & Equal TV, an independent media network that interviews public figures, thought leaders, and musicians.

In 2014, Free & Equal launched United We Stand Festival, an annual nationwide tour uniting the younger generations with musicians, artists, and thought leaders to encourage local civics participation and inspire people to run for office.

Free & Equal’s latest project is creating a Blockchain Election Assistant App powered by Nexus Earth to promote transparency and empower voters with information about all their candidate choices.

Free & Equal is preparing for the 2024 elections by building an influential coalition of nonpartisan political reform organizations. Together, we will present presidential debates that are constructive, inclusive, accountable, and responsive to the people.

Since 2008, we’ve been producing debates and organizing coalitions to open the conversation, and we are the only organization to produce a nationally televised debate outside of the mainstream Commission on Presidential Debates.
