Free & Equal Hosts Final US Presidential Debate

Free & Equal is proud to host the final US presidential debate between Libertarian Party candidate Gov. Gary Johnson and the Green Party’s Jill Stein.  The two will go head-to-head and discuss foreign policy live from RT’s Washington, DC studio on Tuesday, October 30. Voters can catch the show-down live on RT America, RT.com and right here on YouTube from 9:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time, (October 31, 1:00 a.m. — 2:30 a.m. GMT)

  • Curtis

Can those of us living in DC attend the debate live?

    • Casey

Most likely. I went to the debate in Chicago ( it was AMAZING! ), and tickets didn’t go on sale until 4 days before the debate. Maybe tomorrow or the day after?

    • Poshboy

I hope so. But I imagine that RT’s studio in downtown DC is not that large. The organizers probably couldn”t get a larger venue on such short notice. A shame–the Marriott Crowne Plaza around the corner has a big ballroom that seats about 2K.

      • jwb

We can’t go to Marriot, they are one of contributors to the Debate Commission

    • Cam

I hope so too, I live in Arlington & wouldn’t miss is for the world!

  • Bob

foreign policy? how bout something they disagree on, like the economy, taxes, healthcare, education, the role of the federal govt?

    • Aden

that’s where Mitt Romney fails as a republican, he talks as if he disagrees with Obama on these issues but he doesn’t. He is for Government healthcare (as long as it has his name on it and not Obama’s), he is for the expansion of federal govt (more so than Obama surprisingly). Where he does disagree, is that he wants the top 1% to pay less taxes and he doesn’t like unions especially in the education system. Oh and he doesn’t have a plan for the economy at all, he has yet to explain how he is going to spend more than Obama but lower the deficit and debt.

    • Dustin

Yea, I really hope they don’t go through with having foreign policy be the primary focus of this debate. How disappointing it will be to have the debate we are watching in order to hear differing opinions on issues focus on an issue where the two candidates have little to no disagreement. The video ad above mocks the two candidates agreeing with each other on everything in their debates, and this is going to be no difference. Gotta love the irony!

  • Steve

The only problem is foreign policy is not where these candidates differ so much. I suggest not restricting the topic of this debate in such a way. Open it up, and let the REAL differences between these two be discussed.

  • Steve

Before the debate I thought I would support Gary Johnson. Jill Stein changed my mind. Hats of to Christine Tobin and Free and Equal!

  • Rose

    What is RT?

    • Poshboy

RT is Russia Today, a Moscow based TV network. They have access to a number of American cable networks. In the DC area, in Arlington County, Va., on Comcast, they are on Channel 274. The network has very interesting commentary–they broadcast opinions that are not normally carried on the MSM.

And it is completely off-putting that we Americans have to depend on a bloody Russian network to carry one of our Presidential debates. Thank DARPA for the Internet…and thank you, President Putin. I bet you are smiling now–that RT America seed money budgeted in ’04 was well spent.

  • TheSystemIsBroken

I’m really hoping it isn’t restricted to foreign policy. The economic divide should be a large focus.

    • Steve

Economics is one of the major, if not THE major issue where these candidates differ. Look how far apart is abolishing the IRS on the one hand, and free college education for all, on the other.

Not much point in watching if there is no one on the other side like Virgil Goode, The Constitution Party.

    • sean

He was the ONLY cdoncise, non-politician, politician.
The others were all business-as-usual, bobbing heads.
Abortion OK, gay OK, free education, free healthcare……we already have that in obama.

      • jim

we have more than this w mr obama – this is just the tip of the iceberg + sick of federal government in personal lives – run your own life, Sean, and let the rest of us run ours.

After they both say “get the troops home” and answer about Iran, can we open up the debate to let them elaborate on the other issues like the economy and the use of drones in our airspace? Also, I would like to thank RT for making the second debate possible, but at the same time you will forgive my embarrassment at having to rely on “outside” resources to facilitate discussions within our political system due to lack of honest coverage by our own media.

So, the ad for this debate is all about two candidates that agree on so many things, and yet this debate is supposed to be primarily about foreign policy? That was one of the few topics that there really wasn’t that much disagreement on. This should definitely be opened up to more topics, primarily topics that they really do disagree on. I want to hear why one view is better than the other, in their opinions.

DAMMIIT! I wanted to see Johnson-Anderson duke it out for all the marbles.

I really like that there are third party debates. With this being hosted on RT they should drop the foreign policy where both candidates have the same view and instead stay on economics and jobs. RT already has the perfect host for such a venue in Max Keiser, if you can convince him to step foot back in the US.

I am looking forward to watching this live online, just for fun. I still will be doing a write-in for Ron Paul though.

Please tell me Thom Hartmann isn’t the moderator. He won’t be fail. He can’t be fail. A fool could see that Thom is a socialist twat! He would be easy on Green Party nominee Jill Stein!

If you are unhappy about the outcome of this runoff you can still watch your favorite candidate debate with Ralph Nader as host on Nov. 4th as he will be hosting all 4 candidates.

I liked the first debate, and I would rather see the 4 of them again with different questions. Getting down to 2 is like Mitt and Barrack LOL I don’t like seeing candidates excluded.

I have to agree. Foreign policy debate will be just like the other presidential debates – much ado about nothing. Size of goverment and economy are the striking differences between Jill Stein and Gary Johnson. Ms. Stein wants free higher education and more money spent by the federal government; which Mr. Johnson wants to abolish the Income Tax, create a Fair Consumption Tax and have a limited federal government. Mr. Johnson wants to eliminate the Department of Education – one excessively wasteful and useless parts of the federal government. Based upon Ms. Stein’s comments in the first debate, she would like to expand the Department of Education.

Lets see where their points truly diverge… not listen to much ado about nothing.

  • Robert

A central question in Chicago was about two tiered elections…Why then are Rocky and Virgil being excluded from the DC event?

    • sean

      “Free and Equal”…..isn’t!

  • TheSystemIsBroken

Attention guys: The debate has been moved to November 5th

  • AlachuaGreen

The debate has been rescheduled to November 5th due to Hurricane Sandy.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kandi.kirk Kandi Kirk

My e-mail from you said Nov 5th, then it says they will debate on Oct. 30th. and this says you can view it on Oct. 31st. CAn you please clarify.

  • Manfred

Really unfortunate that Rocky Anderson will not participate in this final alternative debate forum. His articulation of leftist policy positions is unfailingly clear and coherent, unflinching and, I imagine, cogent in its renderings — I surmise a tete -a-tete between he and Johnson would have made for a stirring collision of ideas, an exploration of ideological gray areas, and a test case for what polar opposition does exist between the liberal (U.S.) construction of this notion of individual liberty, government provision and anti-militarism, versus the strident libertarian’s take on unfettered federalism and international isolationism.

  • Sean

Just saw the 3rd party debate on TV and voting is closed already. The only guy I consistently agreed with was Virgil Goode. If you like Stein or Johnson, you may as well stick with Romney or Obama.

    Will CSPAN cover this debate?

  • donna

Although I love what Free and Equal stands for and works toward. I have to say, narrowing the debate to only include 2 of the other parties feels much like only being offered republican and democrat by the mainstream media. I realize the vote was fair, but, the lack of representation in this debate is not, considering one of our (3rd party supporters) gripes is this being done by the mainstream.
